Temporary exhibition "The Latvian Museum of Natural History 175” at the shopping center "Aleja", Vienības gatvē 194A.
The exhibition introduces to two new permanent exhibitions “Mammals of Latvia” and “CITES” (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora – CITES or the Washington Convention). CITES is a multilateral treaty that was adopted to control international trade in endangered species of plants and animals. The Latvian Museum of Natural History is one of three institutions in Latvia designated as a CITES Scientific Authority. The exhibitions will open at the end of 2020, marking the museum’s 175th anniversary, and are funded by Cohesian Fund project Nr. 5.4.2.2/17/I/002 "National environmental monitoring programme and control system develpoment, and promotion of public participation by improving infrastructure of national level environment and information centers".
The temporary exhibition introduces to visualizations and showcases various museum specimen. Every day from 12.00 to 20.00 the museum's educational staff will be present to play games and learn about mammals of Latvia and CITES species.
